Keaton Turns Nine

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEATON!!

Our "baby" turned 9 on Saturday. He isn't really a baby any longer. He has grown up so quickly. We celebrated with friends and family. We ordered pizza, played wii games, and ate cake. What else could a fella ask for? We had all of his favorite things and people. (Too bad I didn't get pictures of all of them.)

Ms. Mandy and Ms. Kelsey were able to come over and help Keaton celebrate. They brought him Alice in Wonderland. They are awesome!!

Last year, Keaton asked for a pink cake. When we first asked him what kind he wanted this year, his first response was "Pink".

We asked a few more times, each time he replied, "Blue".
So we went with a blue ocean theme. Cute, isn't it! It sure was YUMMY!

I guess Keaton forgot about blowing out the candles until it was time. Look how he was snuggled over next to Mary. He seemed a to be a little afraid at first. We sang "Happy Birthday" and he finally came around but needed a little help to blow them out.

I was a bit unsure of what to plan for Keaton's birthday. I couldn't decide who to invite or where to have the party. We finally agreed to have it at home and invite family and close friends. I'm so glad we did. We had a good time. Keaton enjoyed his party and we spent the rest of the night at home enjoying each other's company after everyone left. It was a good end to the day.

Until next time,

Amy

Academic Team Regional Competition 2011

This year Connor decided to try out for the Academic Team. HE MADE IT!! Ever since, his Tuesday and Thursday afternoons have been filled with learning new facts and practicing quick recall matches.  Today his team competed at the Regional competition. It was an extremely LONG day but ended with great rewards.

(It's hard to get good shots at an academic team match without disruptions.)
The Quick Recall Team placed 2nd overall. Several team members took written assessment tests and placed in the top five. The Future Problem Solving Team placed 1st. The team won the sportsmanship award and placed 1st overall for the region. Congratulations to all!!!
